Every year, Deutsche Bank releases a “Mapping the world’s prices” report, which includes how much people earn on average every month.  The figure, which deducts taxes, is a helpful indicator of the wealth of a city.

There is a clear correlation showing that people living in cities with high costs of living often have the higher salaries, with Zurich, the USA, and Sydney taking the top positions.
